Are you looking at getting a facial procedure done? If so, you’re certainly not alone. Reports suggest that millions of facial procedures are undergone each and every year. And it’s not just women, either! Plenty of men are going under the knife to get a better, more confident look.
But if this is your first procedure, it can be a bit scary. You may feel overwhelmed and like you’re not sure how to prepare.
Well, don’t worry, that’s why we’re here! Read on as we walk you through some of the best tips to help you prepare for a facial procedure.
Talk to Your Doctor
If you’re feeling a bit nervous, it’s understandable. Perhaps you’ve heard horror stories about surgery going wrong. Don’t worry, there’s nothing to be afraid of!
To put yourself at ease, it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor a few weeks ahead of time. Consult your surgeon and address any questions you may have about the procedure.
Before you undergo surgery, you’ll want a complete understanding of the entire process. The more informed you are, the less likely you are to feel nervous the day of surgery.
Change Your Diet
As it turns out, your diet matters before surgery. You’ll want to make sure you avoid lots of fatty foods before surgery.
Instead, be sure that you’re getting plenty of fruits and vegetables. The vitamins and minerals found in fruits and veggies aren’t just great for your body, they’re great for your skin!
Try and keep an eye out for some of the following:
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin A
That last one is particularly important. Eating the right proteins can help your body during the recovery process, making it easier and even less painful.
Get Plenty of Rest
Your body is going to go through a lot during your procedure. Make sure that you’re getting plenty of rest beforehand so you’re feeling your strongest.
If you have trouble falling asleep, come up with a new nighttime routine a few weeks before. Turn off all electronics at least a half hour beforehand. Even something like keeping your phone near your bed can put your mind in overdrive.
Your sleep environment is critical too. Make sure you’re in a dim or dark quiet room.
The more rest you get, the easier your recovery process will be.
Prepare For Recovery
Finally, make sure that you’ve prepared everything for your recovery beforehand.
For instance, who is going to drive you to and from the surgery? Do you have enough food and water at your house for the duration of your healing?
These are two huge factors that you’ll need to get ironed out beforehand.
Of course, recovery isn’t always the most exciting process. Accordingly, make sure you’ve stocked up on plenty of entertainment. Get your pile of books and Netflix queue ready.
The more prep work you do before surgery, the less likely you are to feel stressed going into the operation.
